Lead AV Installation Technician

Location: Granger, Indiana
Job Type: Full-Time

Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Lead AV Installation Technician to oversee and execute commercial audio-visual installations. This role is responsible for leading field teams, ensuring high-quality workmanship, and coordinating with project managers, engineers, and clients to deliver successful projects.
The ideal candidate has strong technical expertise, takes ownership of job sites, and can lead a team while keeping projects on track.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead AV installation projects from start to finish 
  • Supervise and support installation technicians on job sites 
  • Interpret system drawings, schematics, and scope of work 
  • Install, configure, and commission AV systems including audio, video, control, and networking components 
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and resolve system issues 
  • Ensure installations meet company standards, safety requirements, and project timelines 
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and other trades 
  • Maintain accurate documentation including as-builts and field reports 
  • Provide client-facing support, system walkthroughs, and basic training 

Technical Qualifications

  • Strong working knowledge of AV systems, including: 
    • Audio systems (DSP configuration, gain structure, speaker wiring) 
    • Video systems (switchers, matrix routing, EDID, HDCP) 
    • Control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX) 
    • Structured cabling (CAT6, fiber, coax) 
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills across audio, video, control, and network systems 
  • Experience with AV-over-IP systems and basic network configuration (VLANs, multicast, QoS) 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and signal flow diagrams 
  • Experience with rack building, system commissioning, and testing

  • Strong familiarity with networking fundamentals 

Work Environment

  • On-site work at commercial job sites (offices, schools, etc.) 
  • Combination of new construction and retrofit projects 
  • May involve lifting, climbing ladders, and working in active construction environments

AV Installation Technician

Location: Granger, Indiana

Position Overview

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented AV Installation Technician to install and support commercial audio-visual systems. This role works closely with lead technicians and project teams to ensure systems are installed correctly, function reliably, and meet client expectations.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with tools and cabling, a solid understanding of AV fundamentals, and a strong willingness to learn and grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install AV equipment including displays, projectors, speakers, microphones, and racks 
  • Run, terminate, and label cabling (CAT6, HDMI, speaker wire, etc.) 
  • Assist with mounting displays, projectors, and AV hardware 
  • Follow system drawings, schematics, and installation instructions 
  • Support system configuration, testing, and commissioning 
  • Troubleshoot basic AV system issues 
  • Maintain clean and organized job sites 
  • Adhere to company standards, safety practices, and project timelines 
  • Provide basic client interaction and support as needed 

Technical Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of audio, video, and control systems 
  • Experience with structured cabling and termination (CAT5e/CAT6 preferred) 
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools 
  • Ability to read and follow technical drawings and wiring diagrams 
  • Basic troubleshooting skills 
  • Understanding of signal flow is a plus

Vista Technologies Installation Technician

What you'll be doing

  • Representing one of the area’s leaders in custom Audio Visual integration
  • Using your knowledge of IT, AV and Telephony to install integrated technical systems
  • Product staging, testing, organizing, and prefabricating
  • Training to become skilled at control systems design, programming, and commissioning, if required
  • Coordinating with our Project Manager and interfacing with our clients and trades

Your qualifications

  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, addressing, firewalls, routers, vlans and VPN
  • Solid understanding and experience with integrated operating systems
  • Ability to read and understand technical documentation & schematics
  • Installation, cable pulling, field terminations, system commissioning, audio DSP configuration, programming, etc.
